Model Sheets

14-20th Sept 09:

For our first week back, we were handed our first project. Which was to create a character with a back story and produce model sheets for them(Elevations, Dynamics and Expressions). Our task for the week was to work in set groups and think up a character and create a back story and a provisional script. I was put in a group with Alex, Len, Chris, Vicki and Peter. We decided to go with putting an old washed up god in a modern society and what it would be like, we chose Zeus and made him live in a council estate called 'mount Olympus'. I enjoyed working in a group because it allowed us to test new ideas and see what everyone thought, I was happy with the final back story and am happy to start designing my version of Zeus.

21-27th Sept 09:

This week I worked on what I wanted my Zeus to look like so I collected a sample of images that would help influence my character. I decided to go for a well built body shape that was chubby, after all he was a powerful God that has let himself go. I also opted for him to have long scraggly hair and a beard. One task for me is to improve on my model sheets, as last year mine was pretty woeful, it was simple and plain and didn't have the pantone colour key. This year I will make better ones.

28-4th Oct 09

I continued with my character design this week, I also looked at other model boards to help me improve on mine and make it look more professional. For our computer lessons this week we were shown different ways of colouring up our story boards. We we taught how to create our own patterns and how to use bitmap to give our images more depth. This lesson was really useful as it improved my photoshop skills. I will probably use one of these techniques on my model sheets.

5-11th October

This is our final week in this project, so we have to hand in our research file and our model sheets. I'm a bit behind in my sketchbook but I've nearly finished my model sheets. On Friday we were told we have a week-end extension because there was problems with the brief which we only recived today. This took the pressure of a bit and i now have a week to complete my sketch book. I have finished my model sheets and I'm waiting for them to get printed.

12th-October

After I finished of my research file and mounted my model sheets on foam board i was ready for hand in. I am fairly happy with my model sheets as they are a massive improvement on last years attempt:

ELEVATIONS

EXPRESSIONS

DYNAMICS
